The Heritage Hotel again hosted The Sandpipers' return to The Emerald Isle, golf being played at Rathdowney, Athy and Edenderry, with a revisting of an old favourite, Esker Hills, so that newer members could sample the delights of the buggy track.
Unfortunately, Thrush and Zorro, being fans of Beethoven, did indeed "roll over" and Thrush now has 3 points on his buggy licence.
Some great golf was played by all, the Pontiff taking the leader's Orange jersey with a magnificent 30 yard drive off the first tee at Edenderry. This beat the previous best, of Provisional, by 29 yards 35 and three quarter inches!
This year's captain did indeed live up to his reputation as Filofax Man by producing a stunning Powerpoint presentation of the week's results, along with several "interesting" photos.
Those environmentalists among us will appreciate, in the photos opposite, the efforts of some Sandpipers to moisten the drystone walls, in order to minimise erosion.
